Germany, the Ruhr and back to Berlin

We stayed at my mother’s place and got up early because we wanted to explore something around, but it started to rain so we decided going back to Berlin early and grab something to eat on our way.

On our way back it stopped raining so we decided to go to an other geocashing spot near the Ruhr. We parked the car and went up the hills to a cliff. On top of the hill we got a great sight and a cool geocashing spot ;)

In the evening we got back to Berlin without any problems :)

Back to germany

We got up late this Sunday and we met Tammy in her kitchen where she prepared a breakfast with banana milk and Hagelslak (Chocolate sticks) and Appelstroop (an apple sirup). It was really good.

Inspired by the breakfast and the nightly city tour we decided to explore the city again and buy some stuff. So we went in the area of the Maas and and stayed there for a short time and went afterwards to a store to buy some additional stuff.

After we’ve bought these things we started a small tour through the city and went to the city hall and small parks and then we went to Steyl where we visited an abbey  and their gardens and brewery.

The garden was really cool we could relax on benches and stay some time at a really cool lake. It was a great start for this day. We walked through the area and found some small grottoes.

After Steyl we went to Lomm where we went to a nature park called the Ravenvennen. I found this area through Geocaching. It was my first found cache. Someone placed it in this area. We kept walking for about 2 hours in this area and took a lot of pictures and retrieved the one.

On our way back to Germany we decided to stay one more day outside of  Berlin so we went to my family in Schwelm.

On our way we took the indirect way, because we’ve still got some time and wanted to see more, so we went to the Maasduinen where we found goats and water areas.

Afterwards we drove to my hometown, visited my family and went to bed soon.

Floriade and Venlo at night

The second day started with a rain and we were in a bad mood about it. We decided to grab something to eat – so we went to the city to the “germans store” – the so called 2 brothers. A shop in Venlo where everything is written in German and we bought some dutch specialties and Laure bought some cheap orchids.

We went to our host and ate a great breakfast and started for the Floriade. At the central station the bus to the area came at the same time when we arrived so we wanted to take it but we needed a ticket for it so we ran into the station, bought a ticket and ran back to the bus, which waited for us. We were lucky.

We spent the whole day inside of the Floriade – I will add the pictures soon.

We stayed at this place until it closes and we have seen a lot of stuff. But we were a little bit disappointed of the presentation of some countries who only wanted to sell stuff to the people visiting a agricultural exposition.

In the evening we went back home and met Tammy who showed us the city. So we went again to the Restaurant with the dancing stage and we ate something and went again to the alternative bar. Laure and I went back home early because we were a little bit smashed.

The way to the Netherlands

The first day of our trip started in the morning with a nice breakfast and the discussion which way we should take and we decided to take the Avus that we could pick up some hitchhikers.

So we went to the car and started driving out of Berlin towards Potsdam and stopped at Grunewald where we found two first time hitchhikers who wanted to go to Amsterdam. They were students in Potsdam and we brought them to Hannover.

As we arrived in the evening we went to Roermond a city near to Venlo. There is a big outlet store where we bought some stuff. Then we decided to explore the city.

When it was getting dark we went to a pancake store and bought some really nice made pancakes.

After this meal we went to our Host in Venlo. We spoke a little bit and Laure went to bed while I discovered the night life of Venlo.

First we went to a restaurant where a nice dance party take part. The Problem was, that it was mentioned for people 40+ and we felt really soon too young so we went to an alternative bar and drank some beers.

Easter holidays: Floriade and Limburg

I just finished my plans for the Easter holidays. I will went to Venlo in the Netherlands to visit the Floriade: A landscape expo.

Afterwards I will explore the area around the Maas. I will visit the Ravenvennen which is a swamp area near to Venlo and Arcen, a small village with a nice castle.

I hope that I could pick up some hitchhikers on my trip as I go there with my girlfriend and her car.

First surfers this year

So last weekend I had my first “real” surfers this year.

Two girls from France – Lisa and Amélie visited Berlin and surfed my Couch from Saturday to Monday morning.

They came to my flat at about noon when I had to left for a soccer match where a friend won some tickets and invited me to join. So I came back in the evening and met them.

We started cooking – the two girls brought some vegetables and wanted to cook ratatouille but we didn’t have all of the stuff at home for it so we decided to do a curry and it was really tasty.

Afterwards we decided to go dancing and we changed our plans three times. The original plan was going to the Lovelite for a Balkan beat party, but a friend said that she knows a band playing in a club and we could go there – so we’ve met inside of the tram and met my friend – but she wasn’t in a good mood due to personal reasons so she decided to go back home and we decided to go to plan C which was a drum & bass evening in the rosi’s.

It was an awesome evening. We danced a lot and had a lot of fun. The next day starts with a nice breakfast and afterwards we started to explore the city. In the afternoon I got a message from an other surfer whom I couldn’t host be we wanted to meet so I said that we’re going to X-Berg to grab some drinks and they could join.

So we went to Kottbusser tor and met Ola and her friend and we moved towards a nice cocktail bar and talked a lot about travelling, hitchhiking and couchsurfing. It was a really nice evening.

The next day the two girls left and went to an other host.
